We believe that MACKIE'S ice cream is different - and that the
reasons include the product, our people and our location. All Mackie's
ice cream is made at the farm in Aberdeenshire in our "design
chain" from the wind for renewable energy, crops for nutrition
for our cows, who make designer creamy milk and cream for our luxury
ice cream. It's a real plough to plate - or cow to cone story. Here
we tell you more about our history, who we are and where we are.

MACKIE'S today is the outcome of the effort and foresight of four
generations of Mackie's and their staff.
Ice cream is currently the main focus of the business - employing
70 people and producing over 7 million litres of luxury ice cream
a year.

MACKIE'S farming and food business is owned by Maitland and Halldis
Mackie and their family Karin, Mac and Kirstin who each have Senior
Management positions in the business.
MACKIE'S ice cream is now well established as brand leader in the
luxury ice cream market in Scotland, has an increasing market share
in England and is being exported to Seoul, South Korea and Norway.
The Mackie family have been farming at Westertown farm since the
turn of the century, but it was only in 1986 that the kernel of
today's main business was added - with pilot trials for an ice cream.
In 1993 the traditional byre and old mill were converted to a modern
ice cream dairy capable of producing more than 10 million Litres
a year. In 1996 the New Product Development Kitchen was added. In
2006 production machinery was added to raise capacity in the ice
cream dairy to 6,000 litres per hour.
MACKIE'S vision is to be a global brand from the greenest company
in Britain created by people having fun.
