Main Duties and Responsibilities

The shift pattern is night shift or day shift, working 6pm to 6am, Or 6am to 6pm 4 days on and 4 days off, we are looking for someone flexible to do either shift when required. The role is based on site at AB51 8US (own transport essential). The Moulding Machine Operator is responsible for operation of area machinery and equipment as well as palletisation of product to highest standards of food production and health safety. Full training will be given.

Night shift and day shift availability, based on site at AB51 8US (own transport essential).

  • Setting up and running of semi-automated plastic moulding machines.
  • Meeting planning schedule requirements.
  • Responsible for managing colour and label changeover.
  • Operation of case & pallet shrink wrappers and label printers in a hygienic and safe manner.
  • Palletisation of cases in specific pallet configurations as per company procedures.
  • Complete quality checks accurately and in full.
  • Troubleshooting of machine issues as they arise.
  • Liaise with Engineering team as required.
  • General hygiene tasks in the area ensuring the company’s ‘clean as you go’ procedure is adhered to at all times.
  • Complete the operator training plan to ensure an understanding of the moulding process and a good understanding of the machinery involved.
  • Operator asset care duties with general maintenance of moulding area machinery and equipment.
  • Adherence to Mackie’s strict hygiene and PPE policies and ensure all Health & Safety regulations are adhered to.
  • Other reasonable duties requested in support of the general management of the business as required

Person Specification

  • Night/ Day shift, working 6pm to 6am or 6am-6pm 4 days on and 4 days off, based on site at AB51 8US (own transport essential)
  • Be a champion of Mackie’s supporting the aims and direction of the business.
  • Adapt a change mindset and maintain a flexible approach to work.
  • Structured and organised, excellent attention to detail.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work proactively and on own initiative.
  • Physically fit with solid manual handling ability.
  • Display good teamworking and provide support to colleagues when needed.
  • Good understanding of operating system SAP relevant to job role.
  • Experience of similar machine operations, preferably in blown plastics such as bottle forming, or heat formed food packaging.
  • Confident in machine programming and troubleshooting.
  • No formal qualification required – Full training provided.

Salary: Up to £14.90 per hour

Hours: Permanent, Full-time – 40 hours/week
