Karin Hayhow (nee Mackie) - Marketing Director

Karin joined the family business in 1999 in a marketing role. Her responsibilities include consumer and corporate presentation of Mackie's, range rationale and strategy, new product ideas and market research, consumer communication which includes this website, pack promotions and other competition activity and input to design.

The eldest in the sibling partnership, Karin is a lateral thinker providing creative ideas in her marketing role. Achievements include the company website, a growing club of Friends of Mackies, celebration points (staff reward system) and many other aspects of the company's successful product range and promotional packs.

Karin's career before Mackie's began with an Honours Law Degree at Edinburgh and an MBA there later - to assist moving from law to ice cream. In addition to a short time working as a solicitor in Scotland, Karin spent a year as a barrister in Fiji and another two as part-time policy officer at the Scottish Sports Council while she had two children.

Karin lives with her family in Edinburgh. Her husband says she is full of good intentions, kids say she is always doing something (perhaps not always what they want) and her current interests include food, wine, the gym to allow more consumption of food and wine, books and a bookclub (which also drinks wine), tennis and photography.
