Can you remember your first ice cream cone?
How did you manage to eat it? Is it nature or nurture?! We think it is partly instinctive as most very young people can do it pretty quickly - if a little messily.
Here is a procedure for eating ice cream cones! Your main aim is to manage the entire cone in such a way where it does not drip down the sides of even worse, let your ice cream fall off the cone and onto the floor.
Instructions
Things you'll need:
- Napkins
- Back up cone or a paper cup and spoon (if cone is cracked)
1. Look carefully at your ice cream and the cone. Check to see how lopsided the scoop placement is and if there are any pieces of ice cream that are about to fall.
2. Promptly lick or bite off any overhanging pieces of ice cream that are about to fall off.
3. Examime the cone itself again to see if the tip of the cone is broken or if there are large cracks in the cone.
4. Lick the ice cream around the perimeter of the cone going from the bottom all the way around to the top, in a spiral motion. The cone should be turned constantly to achieve an even shape around the cone.
5. If concerned about dropping the ice cream scoop, then push the ice cream down gently with your tongue as you complete the spiral lick process (in step 4) to secure the ice cream firmly in the cone.
6. Repeat the licking around the perimeter of the ice cream until you have no more ice cream showing above the cone level.
7. Nibble at the cone around the edge to expose the ice cream within the cone.
8. Continue to lick around the ice cream and nibble down the remainder of the cone until finished.
Tips & Warnings
If the cone has large cracks in it that will not support ice cream licking, double up the cone by sticking it into a new one or transfer the ice cream to a cup and eat with a spoon instead.
Soft serve ice cream is more secure on the cone and will not need to be pushed into the cone.
Have napkins nearby in the event of ice cream dripping unexpectedly.
For cones that have a broken tip, you must alternate between licking the ice cream and sucking at the bottom of the cone. If you do not suck at the bottom of a broken cone, ice cream will drip out and create a mess.
Do not eat ice cream too quickly, a momentary headache may result.
You must eat your ice cream as fast as possible when outside in extremely hot weather.
