Trees have different needs within the area for shade or type of soil and Halldis has also given thought to how they will look in 20, 30 or 50 years. The aim is to have some open vistas to show off the significant and the most beautiful trees, and make them visible from a distance. The site for each tree is carefully selected, and then precisely located by satellite and marked on a plan of the area, work done with the help of an expert from Scottish Agricultural College. Planning requires a real mix of outdoor work, meticulous planning, research and record keeping.
