The whole business work together focussing on the end product - Mackie's ice cream
We have seven departments within the business – split into the different types and areas of work.
Ice cream and Ice Cube production is run by Rhona Wight, Production Manager with a staff of 42 and roles including packaging and ingredients stock, quality control, health and safety, service engineers, processing/mixing, high care filling tubs, packing, fork lift drivers and cleaners.
The Office team is run by our Finance Director, Gerry Stephens and involves Finance, Orders and distribution administration, Accounts, cashier, farms administration, personnel, wages and secretarial administration.
The office team also support Sales and Marketing, for Karin Hayhow, Marketing Director and Sales Directors Denis Emslie and Ivan Jefford (in both crisps and ice cream), and their sales team for UK retail accounts, food service accounts and export, van sales round Aberdeenshire, Customer services, exhibitions and store visits, design, packaging updates, sourcing and design, website moderator and updates, sales information.
New Product Development for both crisps and ice cream is run by Kirstin Mackie and includes product development/new flavours development and quality control.
The farms team is managed by David Hay with an arable team with tractormen, gardeners and farm engineer to help produce food for the Cows where cattle manager Jim Petrie has dairy stockmen and women looking after our herd of up to 800 youngstock and milking herd.
